Undergraduate Transfer Students
Students who present transcripts from regionally accredited colleges and universities may be given credit for their work.

Admissions Checklist

The following checklist is the path to being successfully admitted to Western New Mexico University as a transfer student.

Apply to be admitted.

  1. From the Apply Now page, select Admissions Applications.
  2. Enter your information and ‘Create Account’.
  3. Your email address will be your Username (this cannot be changed). Your username and password will be used to access your ‘Student Self Service’ portal, where you can submit your application, see your application status, and see what items may still be needed by the Office of Admissions.
  4. Select Transfer Student (Undergrad) from the drop-down menu.
  5. There is a $30 application fee that must be paid before the application process is complete.

Provide required documentation.

Provide one of the following:

  1. ACCUPLACER placement exam scores; or
  2. An official transcript showing completion of a college level writing course with a grade of C or better and mathematics course with a grade of D or better; or
  3. Achievement of an ACT sub-score of 21 or better (or SAT equivalent of 500) in math, English, and social science. The ACT/SAT must have been taken in the past five years; or
  4. An official transcript showing completion of an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution recognized by the Council of Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

All transfer applicants who have completed less than 24 credit hours must submit an official high school transcript or an official GED transcript.

Submit transcripts.

All applicants must submit official transcripts from all institutions previously attended to earn final admission status.

  • Submit transcripts electronically to submit.transcripts@wnmu.edu or
  • Submit sealed official transcripts by mail to Office of Admissions, Western New Mexico University, P.O. Box 680, Silver City NM 88062.
